It is the Whispers and it's on their greatest hits album. Although Cher and Britney Spears have similar songs.
Unexpected lovers could be by La Bouche. Good luck finding that.

It's called Funky Little Beat and the singer is Connie. I had been searching the name for quite a long time and accidentally fell upon the song today in a 80s funk collection.

the "and the beat goes on" track is called "Beat goes on" and is by "The All Seeing I", on their "Pickled Eggs and Sherbet" album. Both "Lime" and "La Bouche" had hits with "Unexpected Lovers". Hope this helps!!
