I had heavy flow and a lot of pain when I was a teenager, along with very irregular periods. I went to the gynocologist, and she put me on birth control. It helped regulate my cycles, and also helped alleviate some of the pain (don't ask me how). I think if you are that miserable, you should definitely see the gynocolcologist, because she can make sure that there isn't anything unusual going on.

Make an app't with your OB/Gyn soon... About 30% of women taking birth control pills are doing so just to help with troublesome periods... In fact, just in the past few weeks, a pill has come on the market that can eliminate periods altogether. All of these meds carry some risk of nasty nasty side effects, like cancer, so it is not a decision to make lightly. Your Gyno can assess you properly to see if any of the current meds are appropriate and safe for you...

Pamprin worked for me as well as heating pads.

There is always getting on the pill to lighten your period. I had really heavy periods like you with cramping and when I got on the pill I have light periods with hardly any cramping.

If you're stateside you can buy over the counter Pamprin. It relieves menstrual cramps and also those horrible PMS bouts.

Yes you should definitely see a gynecologist to have them evaluate what is causing the serious cramps and also help with medication to help ease them.
