Yes, I felt like an idiot.
How about calling someone dude to find out you was talking to a female.
(That was one ugly female, but I didn't mean to call her dude.
I thought I was talking to a guy.)
Did you see the episode of Family Guy where Peter thinks he punched some kid's father, but it was his mother?

yes twice, the second one she looked like she was about to drop, i also knew a woman we where out on the town in the evening the next day she dropped one, she did not know she was pregnant till that day the boy is a real healthy 19 year old now. even though his mum was drinking and binging all the time while carrying him,

Yes, once.
Working retail, my first job, and this woman came through and bought a nursing bra. From the looks of it, I was guessing she was 8-9 mos along. So I asked......
She said "I already had the baby. He's 4 wks old."
I was mortified!

As a lesson from the 1st time that happened...
I won't ask that question now 'til she's breast-feeding the newborn infant...
A much dumber question at the time...
But there's no danger of offending her...

No, but that happened to my aunt once and ooooowee you have never seen a woman come flyin over thast counter so fast
she was working at a gas station and boy she was ready to fight.
