Tampons are much more cleaner. With pads, you feel dirty and like you need to take a bath and you can feel the blood coming out and you feel wet. Also, even the thinnest ones feel like a diaper. That said, since you just started, it might be better to start out with pads and experiment with tampons until you get more comfortable with them to start using them completely. It is your choice, though.

If you just started to have your period I would suggest pads because it is more comfortable then tampons. When you get use to your period then you could use the tampons but for now I would go with pads. Tampons if they are not used right or are left in too long then you could have major problems. Plus if you are not used to tampons they are kind of painful.

If you FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, a tampon coupled with a pad or panty liner on your heavier days is your best bet. If your menstrual flow isn't that heavy, you should be okay with a pad. The BEST pads, in my experience, are Always thins with wings-they are comfortable and absorbant and it doesn't feel like you are toting rolled up socks in your underwear. The best tampons, in my personal opinion, are the Tampax Pearl.
When choosing a pad or tampon, it is HEALTHIEST to get the fragrance-free ones. Especially tampons. The vagina is a very sensitive area, and the scented feminine products could irritate you and maybe cause an infection.
Also, do NOT douche, unless directed by your doctor. This, too, can throw off the natural balance in your vaginal environment and cause an infection.
Take care-and welcome to part of womanhood.

Pads until you are older and have had your period for a lil while then tampons. Tampons feel better and once you start using them you won't ever want a pad but you should definetly wait before awhile using tampons.
I guess Congrats also = )

I use both....A Super Tampon and Always Super Pads. It is just what works!
If you are scared that you will get TSS, the way to prevent it is to keep it clean down there and if you have to wear them overnight, put a new one in RIGHT before bed and a new one RIGHT when you get up. Dont use tampons ALL the time during your period, if you are at home and have access to a bathroom, then you probably dont need to use a tampon!

Since you just started your period, I think you should start with pads. If you misuse tampons, you could get what you all TSS, or Toxic Shock Syndrome. You should really stick with pads for now.

Pads until you get a little bit old because tampons can cause damage to the vagina. And if you don't have heavy enough flow it can make you high risk for TSS (which is fatal) So you should wait at least a year and a half til you start wearing them. I suggest when you do to get plastic applicators.

Pads. My daughter tried a tampon one time and hurt herself and never used them again. She's twenty now. Personally I prefer pads as well. When you are older try tampons and see which works best for you.
