Lynch has a complicated movie making sense. (In my opinion)...

He is one of those film makers that you have to sit and actually watch their movie...No popcorn, no soda, no candy...Just divulge yourself into it wholly and you will grab the concept.

As with all movies, different people see it in different ways. You have to get your own intrepretation from it, you can't understand what someone else sees.

Fred Madison, a saxophonist, is accused under mysterious circumstances of murdering his wife Renee. On death row, he inexplicably morphs into a young man named Pete Dayton, leading a completely different life. When Pete is released, his and Fred's paths begin to cross in a surreal, suspenseful web of intrigue, orchestrated by a shady gangster boss named Dick Laurent.

Lynch makes bizarre movies and no one will ever fully understand them. Ive seen it like 3 times and I dont think I'll ever get it. Certainly a cool flick though.

I think what pipi08_2000 said is true. David Lynch doesn't want to explain his movies and he doesn't want them to explain themselves. It's what you make of it what's important to him.

But both Fred and Peter are sort of puppets for the Mystery Man who pulls the strings of the lives he encounters to achieve his aims (for example killing Mr. Eddy).

the movie is so weird, it doesn't have any logic to it, it makes no sense at all. and the movie was meant to be senseless.
