There is some good advice here, but not all jumps are the same. On some jumps you will need to keep the throttle on through the jump face and on some you will not. You will preload on some jumps and not on others, and so on. The main thing is to just practice. What I do on a new jump is to make a couple runs where I don't intend to clear the jump (assuming it is a table top, double, triple) and just come up short. Each time I will jump a little further to see how the jump face is going to launch the bike. Keeping working on that one jump until you have it down and then move on to the next. Once you feel comfortable on all the jumps start doing some fast laps and put them all together. As mentioned before reving the engine in the air will bring the rear wheel down, brake tapping (rear brake only!!) will bring the nose down. You should really avoid having to do either of these if possible. Try to set up your jump from the take off by adjusting your position (forward or back on the bike) and your throttle to make the bike land the way you want it to without having to brake tap or panic rev.

First locate jump ride over take for a couple of test runs to find the best line and get the feel of the take off. Then ride over your landing area for the best line, or ruts in dirt bike case. Once you got your line you know where you want to be. Now on your approach you want to preload the suspension to get maximum lift, so you will be standing all the way til your about at the 10 to 20 ft from the base of the take off ramp. Then you sit down to (preload). As you continue to accelerate you will go up the ramp you must stand up at the peak or near peak this point is critical as this will dictate your height and distance. It's a combination of the suspension release and the lift from the ramp will give you the air needed to clear the gap. Now once your in the air you can control your angle with you throttle and your brake remember this (throttle = more front tire lift) (rear brake= lower front tire) Now the landing you look where you wanted to land, and you need to put about 75% of the landing on rear tire, the rest on the front and lean back. I don't do jumps on dirt bikes anymore, so I forget which procedure produces which effect.
When you're in a nose dive, or the front end is to high -
Twist the throttle to get the rear wheel spinning faster.
Or apply the rear brake to slow down the RPM's of the rear wheel.
The centrifugal force of the rear wheel will change the pitch of the bike while it's sailing through the air.
I forget which does which, so experiment.

don't accelerate over jump or chop throttle.
Keep it steady/fixed.
Accelerating will lift front and closing throttle before the rear wheel is off 'ramp' will cause nose dive ( sometimes you may want to nose down a bit, but thats more advanced)

You will discover a bigger deal on a one hundred twenty five than a 250F for definite considering the fact that nobody is racing them now. It's your cash however a one hundred twenty five is an overly dangerous alternative for what you propose to do. I have a RM125, CRF250R and CRF450R and the 250F is by means of a ways the pleasant woods motorbike. I would not journey that RM within the woods if my existence trusted it. If you fairly like two strokes and are keen on KTM's get the 200XC as a substitute.

Let someone who knows what they are going to go first so you know how much speed your going to need. If your nose diving give gas. Also don't let off the throttle right before the jump keep it steady!
