Start acting in the city where you live. When you have a lot of productions under your belt, make a decision on which direction you want to take your acting career.
Many actors start their career in theatre, in particular, regional and local community theater. It's how actors, serious about acting, develop their résumé and maintain their acting skills.
When they have sufficient theater credits, they look for a Talent Agent.
The best talent agents like to see Regional Theater credits on an actor's résumé. It shows they are serious about becoming a professional actor. Those actors easily get an agent.
