I lived there for a short time at one point and the cost of living was not worth the quality of life. I met so many people who thought it was the center of the universe... they didn't really get out of NYC much, usually due to being financially strapped to city. They were like the city's b*tches... defending it at every chance, claiming that it "has the most culture" (whatever that means)... all while bending over backwards trying to pay their ridiculously overpriced rent.

Anyone agree or am I the only one who does not get the 'special allure' of NYC?

NYC is homestead and constantly would be, no count the place I stay. it relatively is not over-rated. it relatively is the best city interior the country/ and between the best interior the international. Chicago is a competent city, yet no longer ( in MY humble opinion ) as great as NYC--- Knicks, Jets, Mets, Rangers, Yankees ( gasp!!) Broadway. lady Liberty, Chrysler construction, Empire State construction, MSG, Grand helpful Station, The Subways, The extra suitable ( i know...Chicago has one now too...besides the shown fact that it became right into a sprint overdue), international sequence Winners, best Pizza , best Delis, Ferries, Italian Icees, helpful Park, Roasted Chestnuts, warm pretzels, Soho, 5th Ave, Harlem, invoice & Hillary, ... and that i ought to bypass on and on....yet... have I made a competent adequate case now?

With 12 million people living there?
It is certainly not overrated!
There are lots of open spaces good entertainment, leisure spots and always a good place to get lost.
I love it, especially "when you get in-between the moon and New York City- there is nothing that you can do but fall in love."
