I am interested in doing so, but I have not found any information on how to do it. Supposedly a person receives a $200,000 grant to fund their election campaign. Does any know if that is true?

Article 2 of the Constitution tells you the details of how a President is elected. I do know that you have to be at least 35 years old, and be a natural-born American citizen (for instance, Arnold Schwarzenegger can never run for President because though he became a US citizen, he was born in Austria). As for the money amount you mentioned, I think that is close to the yearly salary the President is paid. I don't think it is a grant. I think you have to raise your own campaign funds.

I am sorry to tell you this but that amount of money would not even get you a spot in that mud slinging campaign. You have to have people that fund you with millions, so later, you hold out to make laws to help benefit the ones who backed you. If you can not flip flop , then do not take their money. Why not start off by running for Mayor and make things better in city or town where you live. This way, you can really help your community.

Not true. If you want to run for the Presidency, you need to know people who know people who collectively can contribute several tens of millions of dollars to the pot -- and that is just to get started. By the time the dust has settled and the bills paid, several hundred million dollars will have been spent.

you need 100,000 signatures in state to be put on its ballot you do not need to be on all 50 ballots
you only receive money back if you receive more than, i think it is 15% of the vote but that is nationally
this came up in the election in 1992 when ross perot recieved enough votes to warrent the money

200K will get you about 10 seconds on TV. Hopefully in that 10 seconds you've persuaded millions of people to vote for you. Good luck.

PS...you may also make national news...

I believ that 1st of all you have to secure a certain number of signatures on a public poll??? Then , if sucessful, start trying to round-up LOTS OF MONEY! because you"re gonna need it to be a serious contender!!
