What school, like a sleeper, will become the next elite level program? What would it take for a team to become a USC or Michigan or LSU?

University of Wisconsin, national championship this upcoming year, and after that they will be able to recruit anyone, making them the next dynasty.

Georgia has been near the top the last 5 years but hasn't made the top 5 yet, but have had the 2 of the last 3 years with top five recruiting class. They have never really had a good QB and now have 3, or WR but have gotten some last year. They had some many RB that one was red shirted last year, and Ware chose to go in the draft, because they got the top rated RB in the country coming this year, and the linemen from last year were all soph or fresh. the also changed who is calling the Off plays and scored more points the last 3 games last year.

On D, after 5 years of having at least 1 DL go in the top 20 draft, nobody left and the DB are the best the have had since Champ. The only ? on D is the LB's.

Last year was suppose to be a rebuilding year but early where rated too high, too early.

None! On appearances you'd have to say NC ,SC (Gamecocks), Rutgers or W. Virginia. But, that won't happen at any of these schools. With Spurrier at the helm of SC you'd think he could do it. But, there's not enough talent to be consistent in SC and he competes against to many 'established' schools in the football states of Ga, FL, Tennessee. The coaches at Rutgers and W. Virginia are to good to stay there, they'll jump to better football schools or the NFL once they begin to really attain doninance. NC has the same problem as SC so they won't do it. I'm not saying these schools won't be good or compete maybe even for "a" national championship. But, the question was about becoming an 'elite' school. I'd say it's a best bet to say "Bama". If Saban can do what he did at LSU and not leave. Heck, LSU is rising but they have not yet attained the status of 'elite' yet. I'm a UGA fan and we are a prominent program but not 'elite', at least not in football. However, in many sports like men's tennis, women's gymnastics, women's tennis we are and finish consistently high in the Sears Cup. Even Mark Reicht, as good as he is, is struggling to make Georgia an elite program surrounded by so many great SEC teams like Tenn, Fl, Bama, LSU, Ark etc etc.

By elite I define it as the great Oklahoma, Bama, Notre Dame, Nebraska teams of past coaches like the Bear, Rockne, etc. or dominate for 15 years the way Miami or FSU did (I say that and I don't like those schools-must give credit where credit is due). Or you have to have all time winning records like Michigan. Georgia and USC (California) are 10 and eleven respectively on those lists (but I think you should be in the top five to be elite). Vince Dooley was on the verge at georgia with a 44-4-1 record in the early 1980's until state law hurt Georgia (we didn't sign prop 48's until 1998-Georgia and Vandy were the only SEC schools).

Illinois. They've been down since the Sugar Bowl season in 2001, yet Ron Zook is attracting such a high level of recruits that people are openly questioning whether he is doing something improper. And when you are taking recruits away from Notre Dame, Michigan, USC and Florida, you can only start rising until you become an elite program.

I like the Georgia pick that dude said but your question is the NEXT dynasty not top five teams that will finally make it to the top. So my pick is Louisville. USC dominated the Pac 10 which really hasn't given them a consistent rival. Lousiville can dominate the Big East and have a shot at the Championship game this year and for many years to come. The only thing that's tuff for them is that they have a Big East championship game unlike USC who got automatically into 3 championship games with no "Regular Season" losses. By the way, I'm a Texas Longhorns fan so Hook 'Em 07!!!

I would like to agree with the North Carolina pick, but just not quite feeling it.

UCLA is a good pick as well, but again just not feeling it and definitely don't want it.

Boise State is one I might offer up, as they will probably have some good players giving them more consideration now..and they have a great coach and a lot of heart, but, Nah, just not feeling it.

West Virgina is not really a sleeper pick, so they are out.

My choice is, please hold down the laughter....Oklahoma State. They are only a few tweaks away from playing with anyone, they have spent a ton of money lately on the football program, have die hard fans and if they could just learn how to hold their opponent to less than 35 pts, they would be in business as they should be able to put up 40 on just about anyone.

Good Question. West Virginia is the most likely since their program is already in good shape and they play in the easy Big East which is still a BCS conference.

A Real Dark Horse would be Maryland.... They are in a BCS Conference (ACC) in a weak division in that conference.... they have the boosters to help the program.... they have a good east coast location to recruit a large broad area. With a good coaching STAFF and a couple of good seasons they could easily turn into a LSU type school of their conference. Showing up in the ACC title game and thus always having a shot at a BCS bowl game.

Wisconsin? Brett Bielema has to face the same team that he did last year in Ann Arbor, you know the one that beat them by 14 points? As far as a sleeper goes, I'm going to put my money on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Nick Saban is like adding everything that you need. He built LSU into a power, and the same will happen in Tuscaloosa.

Texas A&M Aggies will be a force to be reckoned with this year. They had a very solid season last year with a disappointing loss to California in the Holiday Bowl. They were ranked in the top 20 the entire season. The main reason why they'll be coming up the ranks is because they're returning 19 of 22 starters from last season!!

I know i am going to get a lot of flack on this one but I am going with Michigan State. In the past they have success both on the field and recruiting some of the nations top players. We finally have a coach who is not a d bag, and i think within the next 2-4 years you will see MSU completing with Wisconsin, OSU, and scUM for Big Ten titles!!!
