Bill murray alone can not buy the cubs. he would have to get a group to buy. as in baseball when a group buys a team they hardly every win as opposed to 1 person or company buying them. as in too many chiefs not enough indians theory. in order for the cubs to win they are going to have to get an owner with deep pockets that would be willing to get the right people to run the organization so they may find the right players. if a group buys the cubs they will have too may people trying to find the winning solution. the solution thats evaded them for the last 100 years.

No offense to Bill Murray, a big sports fan, but does he know enough about the game, and would he want to dedicate what it would take, to own the Cubs. Maybe he can buy a minority ownership and let someone else control the team, but I don't think someone like Murray would have a lot of interest in that direction.

Nope. The Zells and Michael Jordan plan on buying the Cubs
as the lead investors in a limited patnership for $850 million.
Bill Murray has about $8.5 mm and no friends or connections.

I doubt it, that Zell guy is buying them after this season with the intent to sell them right after. And being a real-estate guy I can't see him getting rid of wrigley, he'll see that to someone else. Mark Cuban, the Dallas Mavrics owner has expressed intrest in buying the Cubs but I don't think the MLB wants an owner like Cuban.

He does not have enough money to buy them himself...but there are been talks that he is trying to put together a group to put a bid on them.
My guess in no he will not buy the Cubs..I think it will the Phoenix Suns and former owner of the Diamond Backs Jerry Colangelo who will buy the Cubs.
