They do shrink.

When sheep are born, they start out regular size. But soon they start growing rapidly.
Some become as large as houses!!
But, with every rainfall, they shrink.
And when they shrink down to about human size, that's when the wool is harvested.

Sometimes, the clouds you see are not clouds,
they're really big sheep that haven't gotten wet in a while.

It is true, sheep do not shrink. On the contrary when it rains they become fluffy. Maybe it is something in the grass they eat....

Sweaters are just dead wool so it is easy to shrink....

I think after they take the wool off the sheep, they put a chemical on it, which makes it shrink in water.

Same reason cows don't - they're live animals. The skins and wool are pulled off them, and because they are no longer attached to the living creature, they die. It's the same reason your finger nails get hard and brittle when you clip them. If there is no living thing to nourish it, it will die - and dead things tend to dry up. Dead things shrink because there is no water being fed to them to keep them alive.

I've always asked the same question!
And cows too. Why is it their skin doesn't dtrangle them when they get wet? It certainly shrinks to almost nothing after it's off their body.

Very interesting. I'm STILL working on that one too.

Good question.
