Well for hardcore Jam fans, that's probably not considered their best work.
Check out the album "All Mod Cons" which is considered their greatest achievement.
"Town Called Malice" was off their last album before they broke up, and by then they had all but lost their original punky roots and were going for of a Motown sound than their original (think early Who, Small Faces & Beatles) gritty rock/RnB sound.
That being said, TCM is a fun poppy song, and it is considered a classic, and it's still a staple in Paul Weller's (The Jam's lead singer/songwriter) solo shows.
