First, you should never have to pay money for a legitimate job. If a company or website asks you for a fee to sign up, do not sign up with them, they will take your money and run.
Second, most online jobs mostly are about sending out spam. All those spammers are getting paid to send spam from their home computers and not from the advertisers computers, so when the spammers get caught, the ones who sent it on their own machine take the rap while the advertisers never get caught.
Third, do some research about the company before you sign up. There are some third-party merchandising companies that pay people to go into a store to put a sticker on a box. They can be found through a website called NARMS.com. NARMS (National Association for Regional Marketing Services) is a central website for advertising companies and merchandising companies to scout for new employees in certain areas. You can look up some of the websites on that site to find out if they are legit.
You can also do some background checking through the website for Consumer Affairs, as well as the Better Business Bureau. They will have lists of legitimate companies as well as warnings of online websites that are fraudulent.
Bottom line, NEVER hand over your personal information or money until you have done some research first. It will save you a lot of problems.
Good Luck.

The best thing to consider is: if it sounds too good to be true, it is. Getting a legitimate job should never cost you money. If it's as good of an opportunity as it sounds, people would already be lined up to take advantage of them.

If you want to do something like this, check in to medical transcription like @ the local jr. college or something like that. It might cost you tuition, but at least you are gaining a certified skill from what is -- chances are -- an accredited institution. You can do that kind of thing (medical transcription) from home.
