What does being divorced have to do with communicating with your daughter?

Talk to her like she is what she is...your daughter.

You are making something out of nothing.

Try picking up a phone or writting a letter if your divorced 20 yrs I'll assume your child is over 20 where the hell have you been for 20 yrs that you now need to worry about how to communicate with an adult. She's formed her own opinions of you well beyond anything her mother might have said so dont be expecting her to run to daddy with open arms

It will be hard but just call her. I'll tell u one thing don't think she's just going to except u w/open arms u have to understand her and the way shes dealt w/not having u around during her most precious and important times. Give her sometime but show her that ur sorry and really do care about her and that u want to make things right. But don't expect for everything to be all peaches and cream and change from morning to day this wll take a lot of time. Remember u can always forgive. but you'll never forget."

I am really only answering this based on my opinion. If you have been divorced for over twenty years, then she should be old enough for you to talk to her. Come along slowly at first, and gradually you may become more familiar to her. Once he/she is more comfortable with the idea that you are her father, then she may come around. If she does not want to communicate, then respect that. : )

if youve never contacted her since the divorce then you owe her an explaination. if youve always been in contact with her then just be yourself. your her father either way and no matter what she may hold you responsible for she will always love you. no matter what she says.
