I want your opinions. I believe they are by their stats thoughout the years of the NFL. Also, Vince Lombardi has the super bowl named after him. Green Bay has the most historic field in the NFL. Many hall of famers came from the Packers organization. The packers have one of the best quarterbacks of all time(by stats) on their team. I'm wondering if someone could prove that the Packers are not the greatest NFL franchise.

The term "greatest" is had to classify one franchise because many factors and categories come into play and no one team has everything. Dallas, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco have the most SB's (5 each). Dallas has the most playoff wins. The Chicago Bears have the most Hall of Famers currently, and the Oakland Raiders have the best winning percentage of all time. But if your looking at a mix of everything; History, championships, gloal recognition, then yes the Green Bay Packers are one of the greatest Franchises ever.

They have 19 players in the Hall of Fame, second to Chicago's 26.
They have 12 Championships and 3 Super Bowls and are the only team to win 3 Championships in NFL History (65-66-67)
Brett Favre is easily one of the top 5 QB's of all time and arguably the greatest.
Vince Lombardi changed the face of the franchise and the NFL.
Lambeau Field is rich in history and tradition.
They are so involved with their community that they are the only publicly owned team and has no will ever change that.

So yes they are one of the greatest of all time, but a handful of other franchises have just as much history and winning tradition like the Packers do.

You all realize that the league was call the NFL BEFORE the championship game was coined the 'Super Bowl' right? So who has the most NFL championships? Oh, that's right, the Green Bay Packers. So I guess it doesn't matter how many championships ever Dallas or S.F. have, since it isn't close to 12. They are also the only team to have won the championship three times in a row, and they did that twice, no other team has ever done that, and the Packers did it TWICE! So what team is the greatest ever? One could argue the Green Bay Packers, but it is hard the call one team the greatest ever. If one made a list though, Green Bay would definitely be in the top two or three and arguably the best ever.

Well, calling a team the greatest has a lot of personal opinion involved. So you can't statistically prove a team as the greatest. Personally I think they are because I'm a huge fan, they have the history and the most championships. They define the NFL and are truly a unique team with no owner. So I'll agree with you, but I'm sure many die hard fans of other teams will disagree. And I would expect them to, they're backing their team, so it's OK.

I do think it's funny how so many people here think the NFL started in the 60s. The NFL has been around over twice as long as the Super Bowl. You can just disregard all comments that just go by Super Bowl wins, they're clearly uneducated.

While the Packers are indeed one of the great - and historic - franchises in the NFL (one of three to still exist from when the league was founded in 1920, although not allowed into the league until 1921) and hold the NFL record for total championships (12 - that includes 3 Super Bowls, including the first two), the greatest are:

total wins and number of Hall of Famers - Chicago Bears
overall win percentage - Miami Dolphins
total playoff wins - Dallas Cowboys

Yes they are, hands down, and maybe the best sports franchise ever. Aside from their on the field success through the years(12 NFL Championships), there are a number of great things about this franchise. First, they are the only publicly owned franchise in sports, and they thrive in the smallest market in pro sports. This assures that the Packers will always be in Green Bay. No greedy owner here to threaten to relocate this team. The funding for the stadium project got done by selling shares of stock, and local tax revenue, which the citizens of Brown County voted yes to. Second, the organization holds their players to high standards. They won't let their players tarnish the teams image. No matter how good the player is on the field, he has to keep his nose clean, or he won't be on the team the next season. Third, home of the most devoted football fans. Until the stadium renovation, all the seats were taken by season ticket holders (now with the added seating capacity, the extra seats are raffled to participating Brown County tax payers). If you were to get on the season ticket waiting list, you won't get them for another 30+ years, because through thick and thin, they always sell out. Its always easy to praise a team when they are winning, but the Packers are truly a team deserving all the praise they earn regardless of what the win-loss column says.

to answer your question, yes they are. They won 10 NFL Championships and 3 superbowls.
The most in
NFL history. I can say they are the greatest but I can't say there the best. They didn't make the playoffs 25 years untill 1992 when favre was traded for the first round pick. I am a Packerfan. It's like a Babe Ruth story. Babe wasn't good at the time when he was on the Redsox but when he was traded to the Yankees he turned out to be the best baseball player ever. Same thing with Brett Favre. Brett wasn't good at the time when he was on the Falcons but when he was traded to the Packers he turned out to be the Best quarterback ever. Well, next year he will be. That ia as brief as I can answer your question. think about what i said

As a lion fan I hate these questions. Outside of the cardinals i'd say the lions would be the WORSE franchise ever... lol. At least we had barry sanders, right?

Ok, GREATEST FRANCHISE ever? I'd rank the top 4 as....
1. Steelers
2. Packers
3. 49'ers
4. Cowboys

Why the steelers get the nod over the other 3 teams is due to them being the most dominate team ever (76 or 77), 5 super bowl wins and the highest winning percentage since 1990 in the nfl. Another reason the steelers get the nod over the packers, 9'ers and boys is becuase like the previous three they did dominate a decade, but they also had many great teams in their history. The 49'ers only dominated one decade. The boys had a good few years in the 70s and 90s and the pack had one good year in the 90's and destroyed the 60's. The steelers very well could of had a few more titles if bill cowher didnt screw up so many afc title games.

people say how the cowboys and steelers all have 5 superbowls but remember. how many championships do they have? if the Superbowl was created when the NFL was first created the packers would have 12 superbowl wins 12!. c'mon. they are one of the most historic franchises and have many HOFers. no one can say that the Packers are ATLEAST top three but i would say they are the greatest.
