well the engine will be fine, however the transmission may have been damaged, but i really do not believe it will be damaged, because you were goin so slow when you put it in park. My girlfriend did the same thing in my car one time, and it makes a god awful noise, but it was fine. If you are that worried about take it to the dealership and ask them to run a diagnostic test on the car to see why the check engine light came on. DO NOT TELL THEM WHAT YOU DID TO MAKE IT COME ON. If you tell them that then you will be paying for something for sure. hope this helps

no, you might have broken the park pawl, but the Torque converter acts as a clutch, so you didn`t hurt the engine. The check engine light came on either because the sudden blip in reverse killed the motor (NOT permanently) or if it didn`t die, the computer sensed that the trannys speed sensor was still moving but you were in "park".
all the other answers are stupid.

Your "check engine" light might just be a coincidence, since they're actually wired to the emissions system, not the drivetrain, but I doubt it. It sounds very much like you just did a number on the transmission.

like the others said the damage would be to the tranny not the engine. if it shifts back into gear i would worry to much my wife did the same thing to a few of my cars not out of anger but out of stupidy. check engine light will probly go out if you unplug the battery for 30 min

You wouldnt hurt the engine at all, you might have done some damage to the transmission. Goto your local auto store and have the code read, I bet it is transmission related.

it only could have messed up the transmission, not the engine. btw, you can't blow up an engine "a little" it's either blown or not.
