Yes from people like Claire and Nate in science class.

No, he is not dead. Recently, in 2006 I think, he married some woman and even more recently admitted that he will adhere to the decision of Pluto's being as a planet.

Still alive. Because there was an interview on him on ABC in 2006.

yes he is alive. because if he were not then when reading about him there would be an ending year. eg. 19XX-200X
