From people who have worked in the field of Psychology or currently taking it in college I have a few questions. What Credential's do you need to get into a good school for Psychology? What is the best school for it? For those of you who work in that field, what are its con's and pro's? How much do you earn?

I know I asked alot :), but I really think this is my future career.

Thanks

Do you mean undergraduate or graduate school? In the undergraduate world you decide, through taking various psych courses, which area of psych to specialize in. Then apply to grad schools based on that emphasis. This is very broadly clinical/counseling or research/teaching. Different schools offer different emphases. Here is a great psych that lists careers for psych majors and other good general info.

I lenetred this field of study as a researcher/college instructor 26 years ago and still love going to work & doing research! Social psychology is my area of research. I wish you all the best..it's an exciting science!

the question is: once you become a psychologist, will you be a private practitioner, work at an institution or research? i was at U of N.M. mental health and i worked "in the trenches". its hard work, the pay was ok but not great and the biggest problem is "burnout". when you stop caring. i had burnout and i decided to exit the field because i wasn't helping people anymore. good luck.
