With that amount of footage and taking in account walls and various RF interference in the home today I would suggest you purchase a 802.11n setup. 802.11g might work for you just fine but 802.11n will cover all those corners a bit better.

I have a Netgear wireless router and a couple of Belkin usb wireless nics and Belkin and Netgear pcmcia cards for laptops and everything is working fine.

The only problem you might have is if you have a 2 story house and a computer located upstairs is directly above the wireless router. You may have trouble connecting to it. You may be able to lean the antenna on the router and on the nic in your computer to kind of lean toward each other this may correct the problem. Just don't lean the one on the router to a point that you cannot connect with the ones on the first floor. You might get away with leaning just the one on the second floor.

I will suggest that no matter what you buy for a product brand stay with the same brand for your router and nics it will make setting things up a little easier. Good luck, Roy

I am Using D-link Air plus xtreme 2.4 GHz and i am satisfied.
