They say Hoorah to Marines, and Hooah to us army soldiers. It really just means whatever you want it to mean. Yes, roger, check, understood, acknowledged, will do, wilco, and it also takes the negative aspect in depending on how you say it when speaking to superior officers. They are words that can keep you out of trouble, such as your platoon leader making a dumb decision and then he yells at you for it, you just say "hooah" and walk on.

I guess that would depend on which people you are speaking of, each branch of the military seems to have affectionate ( ha! ha!) names for the other, such as "squid " for the Navy. No matter which branch of the military they are in, I will tell them they are : "Our Guys" and I am proud of them.

I think every one wishes to one whom they meet.People will surely say Hai! to Marines.Why only to marines ? You can say Hai to anybody.
