Andrew Speaker has got to be one of the most selfish SOB's in america...does anyone agree that charges should be filed against this man. He's a Lawer, Doesn't this idiot know the risk that he put a lot of people in? He could have killed people with his selfish choice and arogance to think that his needs come before the lives of others. I hope that his career as a lawyer ends with this ignorant choice to board an airlines with TB....what a stupid selfish Bast*&&* D!

I totally agree with you! Who else finds it ironic that his father-in-law works as a government scientist who studies tuberculosis?! I mean, he's wrong for endangering everyone else's health with his condition. I would most definitely have pressed charges against him. How can another human being endanger the lives of so many people? I would never be that selfish to anyone else.

I'm not sure there is anything in the law books he could be charged with unless we make selfish stupidty a crime. I do hope that he gets a lot of lawsuits filed against him for wreckless endangerment. Afterall, he ignored the Health Official's advice of wearing a mask. This story stinks. He's an attorney, his father is an attorney, his father-in-law to be is a CDC scientist specializing in TB, he records his Doctor's appointment, he visits doctor the day before he travels and now he thinks the public is over reacting. What a Scum Bag!
By the way, does anyone know if he violated Georgia Law by recording the meeting without the knowledge of the other party in the meeting.

I am partly in agreement; he ignored the public interest and did what he jolly well wanted to. There should be some penalty for this.
On the other hand, it is likely that he knew he was not readily contagious. He had no symptoms, was not coughing or otherwise spraying germs about. And TB is not easy to catch from a single casual contact anyway. It usually takes prolonged exposure. The risk to others was actually small.
Actually, I wonder whether he is worried about giving TB to his new bride? There is a real risk there.
This is not to justify what he did. We need to be able to trust people to follow the doctor's orders when the well-being of others is at stake. Behavior like his may lead to more draconian measures on the part of governments to protect their citizens. Why couldn't he just behave?

He's selfish as only Americans can do it: to the max.

I doubt if he'll be charged. It's my understanding that XDR TB is "virtually untreatable" as one website put it, with a 70% fatality rate, as another stated. Therefore, he is a goner, most likely.

More intriguing is whether or not his father-in-law will be charged. The link between the lawyer's illness and his father-in-law's line of work with XDR TB with the CDC goes a little beyond coincidence in my book.

The ultimate question is whether or not the American taxpayer is footing the bill for his tx. in Denver. Since his liberty has been suspended and he is being forced to receive treatment, it's a good guess that it's our dime.

They won't. No real evidence just hearsay. It would be a way to spend billions of dollars putting them on trial so the lawyers can make even more money. That would be the only reason for it. I agree with the person bellow me on Davy87 what a joke he doesn't have a clue. Emma makes a statement but doesn't back it up lets see those 300 documents and would they hold up in court? now for disreguard for the Constitution I agree with but that would be all of congress not Bush Cheney who created the Patriot Act. Sorry no culpable evidence no crime.

This guy, his father, his father in law and even his girlfriend
(not legally married according to Greece) all prove that money and education can buy you common sense or brains.
1) Doctor tells him he has TB, yet his father records the whole message, Why?
2) Father in law is an expert in TB at the CDC? Is that expertise for real or is he a Sham. His job is to protect the public first.
3) The girlfriend - why would you expose your young daughter to the guy. "Because I love him" - another dolt.

OMG-Yes! I hope that he's quarantined forever, the dumba**. Anyone else think its more than a little coincidental that his father-in-law works for the CDC specializing in TB? I guess the guy was just not good enough for his daughter.

I agree that as an educated person, he had a choice to make. When a person is diagnosed with tb, esp a rare type, and esp if your dr is unsure of the treatment, it should make you stop and think: "gee, perhaps I should stay isolated????"

No, if the doctor's thought he would be a danger, they would have quaratined him and he never would have left before the test results came back. I believe the media attention resulted in his quarantine, probably for his own safety from a crazed public. Do you actually believe that he is the only person who qualifies to have been quarantined since 1963? Do you believe that there are no people in the U.S. that have this germ? Do you believe everyone has been tested that needs to be tested? Do you believe that he is the only carrier to have ever been walking the streets of the U.S.? Have you been tested? We need to start thinking intelligently and not be so naive'.
