The Mac automatically handles that task. Regarding cookies, you can clean that up in the preferences in Safari or Mozilla.
I would recommend the free program "Onyx" to tune your computer. It's free... just google "Onyx Mac".

Mac doesn't have anything comparable to a defrag or check disk, there are aftermarket downloads that do this, and they work for the most part, but nothing that comes stock on a Mac.

you have one of the dearest computers you paid the price, now you need to know how it works,
OS/x is not like windoz operating system it is a completely different operating system altogether and don' t need a disk clean up.
now if you would like to know more on the mac the best place to ask is Mac support website they will give you all the answers you require, but first they will ask you if you have read the manual,, have you read the help files

Mac's, unlike PC's, do all of their cleanup and defragmenting in the background. You do not have to do anything. It is automatic!
. . .like little cyber-elves!

Every time you use Safari a web developer like me breaks down, screaming "why, why do you torment me so?"
Well, at least the developers who care about interoperability do.
