"Do you have the foggiest notion of what you are talking about. Those Start Trek shows are fiction, you know?"
Fiction to people with a closed mind and WHO THINK THAT THEY HAVE ALL OF THE ANSWERS.
In GOD's Universe all things are possible.

"Yes, but as EVERYONE knows, you'll have to use a stargate (and obtain some naquadah)!
Jeez, dude, just say no next time. And consider posting in the SCIENCE FICTION area."
IF you will recall MANY THINGS WE DO TODAY WERE CONSIDERED SCIENCE FICTION 50 YEARS AGO.
Consider the possibilities.

UPDATE >>> NOT A RESPONSE TO A PARTICULAR COMMENT.
I was not referring to moving across time or space to tap this "Inter dimensional energy".
However the process of injecting a probe or tap across a dimensional "window" may cause a breach in space / time.
Such a breech may lead to the cross breach from the other dimension. This breach may lead to an invasion of undesirable life forms and consequences which alter our own time / space.
Never mind trying to go cross dimensional to tap energy. More problems are created than solved.
Have a nice forever.

We have no idea whether something like that will become possible. At this time the closest we think of is vacuum point energy. ~
Lets not forget, we are just starting up with science. Most things are still totally unknown.
Also, I am sure the universe wouldn't be that easily destroyed. When the first atomic bombs were being tested, some scientists were wondering whether the reaction could become a run away and make a sun out of earth.

According to the generalized string theory called M-theory, there are 11 spatial dimensions. We are only aware of three of them because the other eight are hiding, like ninjas. Very very tiny ninjas. If it were possible to steal energy from other dimensions, the tiny ninjas would have been stealing energy from us all along, as they are very sneaky. So, since we are not constantly getting very cold for no apparent reason, it must not be possible to steal energy from other dimensions.
That's a good thing, really, because the other dimensions are probably making better use of their energy than we would. Stealing is wrong. We should be more careful with our own energy instead of trying to steal more from other dimensions.

**I'm sorry for the spiteful responses you have received from myself and other members of this community. Our behavior towards you is irrational, and the elitism and malice of it is intolerable. This wrathful response to those not actively studying or following science is probably one of the reasons so few pursue science to begin with. We are not helping by being disdainful, we are sadly acting vain, monopolizing knowledge and discouraging scientific curiosity. I hope you will forgive me for the comments I had previously made.***
I will not claim to be an expert on what you are asking, however this would be my hypothesis regarding your regardless:
No.
I believe that what you mean by 'dimension' could be one of two things: Firstly it could be the concept of a simultaneously existing universe. Secondly you could be referring to a macroscopic spatial dimension( rather than the extremely small, microscopic spatial dimensions proposed by m-theory) imperceivable to us because we are, and our tools are, confined by our three macroscopic dimensions.
In the first case, we could not harvest energy from another universe by virtue of ourselves and our tools being necessarily confined to our universe. The universe is self-contained and is not composed of matter and energy only, but the very space and time in which these things exist.
For instance the universe does not expand into space, space expands with it. It would be impossible for us or anything we could create to exit the universe and enter another, this goes for energy from another universe as well. The 'area' between our universe and another universe does not have space to travel through.
If it is a macroscopic dimension you are referring to the answer is also no. This is again due to our limitations. In this case it is impossible for us to move in dimensions other than the three macroscopic ones we are familiar with. We do not have the faculties or bodies to see, never mind interact with higher dimensions. This extends for all the matter we know of, so we couldn't build a tool to collect energy from another dimension.
**Again sorry for the derision, I've answered as best I can. Good luck.

You can email Stephen Hawking and a grad assistant will reply - they get bombarded so you may not hear anything back but it's worth a shot
I think it's a brilliant question but may be to scary in reality to actually do it - you know, a lot of possibilities doesn't necessarily mean do it
Also, some latest documentary lists 18 known dimensions?

This is just pseudo-science b.s. talk. You have to define what cross dimentional energy is, before you can talk about the consequences of tapping it. So what is it?
