What are the two major types of energy, and what is the difference between them? Give an example of each.

There are many types of energy. Kinetic, potential, static, frictional, etc. But you probably meant the first two. Look them up.

Potential and Kinetic

Kinetic energy is energy of motion and is related to mass and velocity.

Potential energy is stored energy. Example you pick up a brick and hold it. The brick has potential energy which manifests itself in kinetic energy when you let it drop.
