1.how does the location of the nodule relate to the function of the nodule?

2/. Two new species of plants were introduced into an area that was low in available nitrogen compounds in the soil. One formed nodules and one did not. Which species would you reasonably expect to grow more robustly?

You must mean the nodules on the roots of legumes that provide a living space for nitrogen-fixing bacteria.

1. The location on the roots is good because the roots can absorb the nitrogen that is fixed by the bacteria in the nodules.

2. I would expect that the plant with nodules will grow more robustly than the other types in poor soil because the bacteria in the nodules will provide nitrogen in the proper form for the plant to use.

Sorry, specify your question... nodules of what? Do you mean Rhizoids? Simbiotic nodules in the soil that attach to the roots and synthsize nitrogen products from the nitrogen in the air?
