Depends on which specific models you are comparing as you are talking about a car (the Corvette) that has been produced in many forms over ~50 years, and a car company (Ferrari) that has produced a wide variety of street and race cars over an even longer period.

If you were take the current top of the line Corvette (the Z06), and compare it with the current "entry" level Ferrari street car (F430), you'd find some similarities.

The Z06 features a 7.0L V8 that puts out 505hp for it's ~3100 pound frame. The F430 uses a 4.3L V8 that puts out 490hp for it's ~3100 pound frame. The Corvette has an advantage in the torque curve of it's larger engine, but the Ferrari is more advanced in it's electronics, and features a chasis that is greatly ahead of the Corvette's in terms of rigidity and balance (as well as better brakes).

The Corvette's top speed is just better than the Ferrari's (197 vs. 196), and in many straight line contests, it could hold a very slight edge... however, the Formula 1 derived launch control on the Ferrari should give it a slight edge in performance from a standing start. Around a road course the Ferrari's chasis and brakes should give it a solid advantage.

All of which tends to favor the Ferrari in small degrees. The Corvette offers more performance for the dollar (though it cannot match the Ferrari in build quality and design).

As you move up the Ferrari line, the differences will generally become greater (for example, the F430 Challenge Stradale ups the performance of the Ferrari by going to 520hp, and dropping the weight closer to 3000lbs, and makes many suspension improvements).

Considering I have accelerated from 75 to 125 against a c5 vette with my 300c and my 300c held its own I would think the ferrari would spank the crap out of the vette. But would the ferrari be able to handle the new 600hp viper. If you don't believe me about the c5 vette go to you tube they have a couple of 5.7 300c vs c5 vette videos.

Straight line the Vette may be faster, but Ferraris are designed for one purpose, racing. So they can handle much much better.
