i rebooted my computer completely which deleted everything and now my graphics are messed up and i have no sound..i downloaded the driver for my monitor so i can adjust resolution and such but how do i install it? im very confused...

wow... what you need to do is go to dell's support website and download all the drivers for your motherboard, these include sound, video, network, and every other driver you need,
you should have a set of cd's for restoring your system if you have then all the drivers should be on them
ask dell support

Did you do a complete reinstall? As in, completely wiped your entire hard drive, or JUST Windows? Because if you did a complete reformant, did you remember to reinstall the motherboard drivers? If your video card came with them, that could be the reason you are not seeing any display properties. It shouldnt have anything to do with your monitor because no matter what monitor you have, the properties should always be there.

Where did you download it to? Usually it's downloaded to Documents and Settings, Owner,(or your name), Local Settings, Temp,(or Temporary Internet files). Get to this by Start>All Programs>Windows Explorer>My Computer>Documents and Settings>................. Double click on the name of the driver file, and look for a file with .exe next to it, double click this, or drag it over to the name of the graphics adapter, and drop.

LOL i don't think i've ever had to install a monitor driver, its all plug-n-play, i think you'd only have to do that in like Windows 3.1. it should be all automatic.no matter how old/new
