We are having a problem on our 1995 Mercury Sable, the front blinkers blink very fast and the back blinkers do not blink at all. Also the brake lights do not work and the wipers are acting weird too. We tried a new flasher box and a new combo switch but these did not help. The fuses all look ok. We are running out of ideas of what it might be. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks!!!

Maybe a bad ground wire running to one of the lightbulb element sockets. Usually a push-and-turn affair, these contact points are subject to corrosion. While you're checking, its a good time to check each bulb, too. Sometimes the filaments inside can be broken and create only intermittant functionality. Check by replacing the bulb in each problem location with a known, good bulb until you've found the problem.

Good luck!

The blinker problem is coming from the taillights/rear turn signals being burned out or possibly bad wiring---whenever a bulb burns out in the blinker circuit--either front or back, the rest of the blinkers will blink faster because there is less resistance in the circuit---also a good way to let you know a bulb is burned out. Check the tail light bulbs for being bad since they are also part of the blinker circuit and could be why you are having both problems with the taillights out and the blinkers blinking fast. If the bulbs are the proper ones and are installed correctly, then you might have a problem with the brake switch or wiring issue--check for a good ground for the circuit, possible cut or frayed wiring and maybe a bad switch. Wiper problem will need more info.

the first obvious thing, i mention this because you did not, replace the bulbs in the rear. turn signals will blink faster to indicate a bulb, or filament in a bulb, is out. get a volt meter and see if you are even getting power to the bulb socket that is not working. and even though a fuse looks "fine" it might not be. use a meter to make sure you are getting 12v to both sides of the fuse. if you dont have a meter, or dont know how to use one, just replace the bulbs and fuses.

you may have two burnt out bulbs at the rear. if you know how to use a voltage meter then chek for power at the signal and brake lights. if not then you need to see if a fuse has gone and if so then why did it go???
If you are not sure then take it in to a facility that repairs this issue.
you may already be spending money that you dont need to spend.

Wow...too bad you wasted all that money on that stuff...sounds like the rear bulbs are bad...if the bulbs are good, then the wiring harness is dissconnected, damaged, or has a bad connection between the front and rear.

Greek people in north London? O.o i was born in Harrow and I've been all over London but i am pretty sure i have never seen any problems with Greek people in London??! In London its mainly asians ( and they don't usually cause trouble) and east Europeans ( they don't usually have dark skin) so i think your probably bullshitting, maybe you should move out of London love!!

I'm having the same problems with turn signals...Sometimes they work and sometimes not. I can bang around up there or below steering column and may blink a few times and quit again. same with emergency flashers. I have the covers off around steering column and it's so many wires...

HAVE YOU CHANGED THE BULBS?
MY CAR ACTS UP IF THE OIL GETS LOW,CAUSE THERE IS A SENSOR SWITCH TO SHUT DOWN THE ELECTRIC PARTS ON MY CAR,ITS A 98 DODGE NEON.
TAKE IT TO ADVANCED AUTO,OR AUTO ZONE,THEY CAN PUT IT ON THEIR MACHINE,AND TELL YOU WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
GOOD LUCK
