Norton's is a resource hog and really isn't worth the money you pay for it. I suggest you scrap Norton's and get something a little more flexible not to mention cheaper.

Nortons is an expert in marketing skills to sell garbage that fails to perform and is a hugh resource hog. Your daughter is throwing away her money. Tell her to remove Nortons as there are excellent free antivirus programs that are light years ahead of Nortons.
Here is an excellent from antivirus program from AOL, Active Virus Shield powred by Kaspersky Lab of Russia. Rated # 1 in the world for virus detection. You will get auto updates every hour on the hour, plus an excellent background scanner that really works great. AOL, will only ask you for your email so they can send you a free key good for one year. After one year just request a new key.

She can also run what is know as "online scanner", from Kaspersky Russia, rated # 1 in the world for virus detections.
Kaspersky server will run a complete scan of her system and kill all the viruses in real time. Scan time can take upto two hours depending on how many running processes she has and how many program installed. After completion of scan, tell her to reboot. She should be fine.

There is no conflict withan online scanner. Don't let her install another antivirus program without removing Nortons as you will have serious conflict with two antivirus program. You can have three or four antispyware with no problems

There is a way to scan her computer and to get rid of the virus. On her computer does she have an icon that shows Norton security sign and if she does then click on it and it will show the norton security scan and then find where you can scan the computer and then the scan will catch the virus and then it will show that the virus is in quaretine(sp) and then it will show that the deletion is recommened and then click on it and it will show to delete it and then it is deleted and then scan the computer to be on the safe side and to make sure that it is out. I have Norton Security and I have had no problems with it. and I pay less then your daughter does and it works for me. I hope this will help. Good luck

Any operating system you run will need AntiVirus, Malware Scanners, and a Firewall to ensure optimum protection. New viruses and spyware are developed every day. Even news agencies learned IE 8 is subjected to unauthorized access with a backdoor recently discovered. Apple is also subjected to viruses. Be sure you install a top notch protector like AVG/Avast/Norton/McAfee.

Try these sites:

One is a virus scan and one is a spyware scan... both free. I've used them for at least a year or 2 and they work really well.

Don't waste money on norton.. In my experience, norton is more of a virus than anything else.
