If its plastic just wipe it clean. If its plastic covered by cloth I would fill a sink with a cold wash product or small amount of laundry soap. Soak it a bit, lightly scrub bad areas. rinse. refill the sink and dunk it to rinse.

They do make a plastic "clam shell" type thing to put like baseball hats in. It is curved for the bill. You can put them in the dishwasher top shelf. Let it dry completely in the shaped frame.
