If you quote your vin number to the dealership they should be able to tell you the year model.
Their service / spare part manuals normally have it listed inside the front cover.

Count to the 10th letter in the Vin, this is the Year code letter on all mtcs, atvs etc. and use the link below to find out the year...Scroll down past the ads! If you have a bike older than 1980 then your Vin will be short and I dont know the code for the older ones.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. most Japanese made bikes have their month and year of manufacture printed on the hydraulic brake cable hoses and on then front and rear magwheels spokes...
