I myself as a Canadian, am very proud to be one.
We don't live in igloos, those are in Alaska (that happens to
be owned by the US) and we're definitely not stupid !
We're peaceful people and very friendly, why do some feel
the need to insult us ?

Some Americans feel the need to insult Canadians. It's childish. Then again, when I was a child I was in Ontario on vacation and recall the waitress making a comment about the falls being polluted because the water was coming from America. There has always been animosity between the USA and Canadian people. I don't know when it started or why, but it's been there a long time. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the French.

Why does anyone insult anyone? Usually ignorance, or latent feelings of inadequacy within themselves.

Don't worry about us Americans insulting you. Just because we say you guys suck doesn't mean you do. You have a great country. It's a great place to visit. Everyone is extremely friendly...at least they were to me the time I was there.

In some areas, we are quite a bit better off than you. In others, you totally kick our butt. You know what? It doesn't matter. Canadians are cool (except maybe those Nordiques from Quebec). Americans are cool (except for Barry Bonds and Hillary Clinton).

Let the Rednecks and the Hosers argue. Those of us with a few brain cells focus our ire on more important things.

Have a great day. And if we can both agree to insult the French, the world will be a better place.

I am a us citizen, and in the area of NY I am from most people I know like Canadians, I think your country is great, and sometimes I am jealous that our government isnt more like your when it comes to medical care and such. But I love the US, and I relize how great we have it even though our doctors and our govt are free to stick it to us. I dont think you are stupid, alot of US citizens can be asses, as can people from every country. Im sure there are canadians that hate americans also. I appologize to you if you have been insulted for no reason.

Well I think Canadians know Americans much better than the other way around. I know Canadians and have roots there and feel somewhat saddened by the rift between the two countries. I know exactly what Canada is and it's quite different. You know the difference, perhaps never mind what Americans think of you. I think generally Canada is and will become better understood.

I used to have a lot of friends from Canada, they were all nice people. I think a lot of the problem started when some American kids were up there for some kind of field trip. Supposedly they were booed and pushed around by some kids from there. It was a problem with the war in Iraqi.
But any way like I said most Canadians are good people, we all have some who need to be nicer.

Some people just enjoy picking at other people. Canada is so close to America and so similar so the differences are more noticeable than somewhere that is completely 180 from us. We hear someone add "eh" to the end of a sentence and we giggle because its different, but not neccesarily to be mean, although some people take it too far. Just like blond jokes. I tell them and laugh at them, but I don't think blondes are dumb.

I'm sorry you feel insulted. I think for the most part its just a clumsy (and yes, ignorant) way of celebrating differences. It isn't meant to hurt anyones feelings.

Look - I travel to Canada on a frequent basis - There are definitely things that I like better about your country - Over all women dress hotter and are less likely to resemble cattle vs the women in the US. However - go to a restraint in Canada- and one is lucky to get their meal, drink refill (lack of service in general) There is a sense of entitlement that we do not have here (for the most part). More importantly - whether you agree with it or not - we have fought for everything we have - our Fathers, Grandfathers, Sons, Brothers have given their lives to ensure that we have a free country. Canada on the other hand exists basically because we permit it -(don't take that the wrong way) Your country never takes a harsh stance against anything in the World. You merely exist and plead that you are neutral. Your neutrality and liberal immigration policy will change your country to something you never envisioned 20 years from now. Reality is that bad people do exist and a Free Market and Democratic Republic flourishes -look at the unemployment rates in France, Germany and basically any other country - We don't have all the answers but not taking a position is worse than trying. That is my 2 cents. Oh yeah and that damn 407 ETR --- burns me up with all the fees.

C'mon. It's just some poking fun. Every Canadian I know has jabbed at the U.S. We make little jabs back, but both sides know we have so much in common. The insults let us make fun of our differences in a good natured way.
I've traveled a lot of places and see true hatred across the border. Canucks and Americans really have a good relationship. I always tease my friends.

The Americans who do it are ***-wipes. They are ignorant little war mongers who think that they are superior to the whole world. America is the most hated country in the world for good reason.

I was born an American and I love my country but I have decided to renounce my citizenship and live in Canada. I hate that the Constitution is in tatters and that my government spends its money and time on tearing down instead of building up its citizens and its neighbors.

why do some Canadians insult Americans? I'd say there are rude people on both sides of the border.

And Eskimos/Inuit's don't live in Alaska alone and I'd wager few of them live in Igloos any more either.
