You should apply ice to your sore muscle 3 to 5 times a day for 15 to 20 minutes for the first 24 to 36 hours and then after the first 36 hours have passed if you do not have any swelling then you can apply heat to make you feel better. Take some Tylenol or something for pain and relax. Try rubbing the muscle gently and sart doing something that will help you move that muscle so that you can start working the pain out of it and feel better.

1st 24-48 hour use only compressed ice. If it is on the left side don't do longer than 5-7 minutes at a time. Don't apply directly to the skin make sure you have a barrier such as shirt or a paper towel. It's also important to keep it mobile as long as you know its nothing more than a muscle strain. Myofascial release technique is very good to perform once the pain decreases. If you find yourself a good Chiropractor that does soft tissue injuries he or she can help you recover a lot quicker. Good Luck.

Cold if it is swolen then switch to hot. Don't overwork the muscle until it is healed. Do try to use it to keep it from locking up. Good luck!
