Why do you have to write a response after choosing best answer?

them's the rules. So the best answer winner can see if you really liked the response or not and get a warm fuzzy feeling.

I don't mind that feature, It's just common courtesy to add
a little note as to why you picked it as best answer, sometimes people don't write anything, they'll just put a smile.

You don't have to, but it's always nice to type something to the person, you chose. When someone picks me as best answer, I always leave a comment, even if it's just to say thanks.

feed back let them know if you used it if it worked if it was the best answer but it was kinda lame. what you thought about it if you added anything extra to there idea

People like to know that you appreciated there advice or that you thought their comment was funny. This is your chance. I however do not think it should be mandatory. Sometimes you just can't think of the right words....

You don't have to if you don't want to. I always do though cause it gives me a chance to thank the person.

You don't have to but they appreciate it when you tell them why you picked them. Most of us don't get picked very often so it makes us feel good !!
