It probably is a yeast infection but since you've never had one before you should go to the doctor to get it checked out. Sometimes the symptoms of a yeast infection are similar to the symptoms of a bacterial infection, also called bacterial vaginosis.

Sorry this is kind of gross, but here are the symptoms of a yeast infection:
itchy, painful, irritated, white discharge like cottage cheese, no bad smell

for a bacterial infection:
itchy, painful, smells bad like fish

Make sure you wear loose-fitting, cotton underwear until it clears up. You want to keep things dry and airy. Use the over-the-counter stuff at night. If it doesn't clear up soon you really should see a doctor. They can prescribe a one-time pill called Diflucan which is stronger than the o.t.c. stuff. Good luck!

My younger sister had the same problem a couple years ago. The best way to calm the swelling is by using Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil. (This can typically be found at any local health food store.) A bottle will cost you about ten dollars, but it's worth every penny.

First, heat the olive oil in a microwave for about a minute. Next, take a warm damp cloth and soak it in the olive oil. Then, spread to olive oil around the infected area of your vagina. Repeat this process until the vagina is nicely soaked. Lastly, take a cloth and warp it around the infected area and leave it on for a couple days. Within about four days the infection will disappear completely. Good luck!

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

It sounds like an infection a Dr. should take a look at. Could be an STD or any number of things. And if you are sexually active don't let the guy bs you into beleiving that it is not possible for him to have given you something. Also a hot bath with a bit of vinegar will often help with the pain and itch. But really, see your Dr. NOW.

Sounds like it could be a yeast infection. Remedies for yeast infections are sold OTC in drugstores. Don't let it go tho, it could get worse. Have you thought of contacting your doctor?

Yes it sounds like a VERY bad yeast infection. That happened to me once and turned out that I was allergic to the cream I had used. You need to seek medical attention. Good luck. (Also, I know the itching will drive you mad, but an easy solution is to get a clean washcloth, wet it, and put it in the freeaer, hold it down there for a while and it will stop the itching and burning. repeat as often as youd like, but always use a clean washcloth)

Sounds like a yeast infection to me, they can be very itchy. But unless you have other signs (I won't list them here), then it could be something else like an urinary tract infection or some other infection or inflammation.
See a doctor, and I hope you make sure your boyfriend washes his hands real well (with antibacterial soap) before he fingers you - it could be something from him.
