The BD has never been with another BD, so if they are eggs they were unfertilized. How often does this happen?

Bearded dragons often lay unfertilized eggs. What you describe is most likely an egg, they are oval shaped and vary from yellow to white.

Many reptiles can lay unfertilized eggs, and those that lay large clutches almost always produce some eggs that are infertile.

A "virgin" BD laying a clutch of infertile eggs is rare, but it has been known to happen (obviously -- yours did!)

Chickens also lay infertile eggs.

Those are eggs. Unpaired reptiles will still produce them on occasion. No way to predict how often a particular animal may do this however.
