I have a very inconsistent cycle and I am going on vacation in 10 days. I absolutely do not want my period during vacation but I am not currently on birth control so I wanted to know if it would be ok for me to start taking it now in order to not get my period. Currently it has been 27 days since my last period (but my last for cycles were 45,32, and 60 days so I have no clue when to expect it). So should I just wait and see if i get my period before my vacation? Or should I start taking the pills now to push back my period for the next two weeks? Thanks.

Messing with nature is not a good idea....none of us women LIKE having a period....I have NEVER once heard anyone glad to get one (except if they thought they were pregnant and didn't want to be...), but we deal with it because we are women. I do know that some women are put on birth control to regulate their periods (like your irregularity problem)....but they have gone to a doctor and are medically prescribed birth control pills to help them, not to stop them from having a period until they get back from vacation. You might as well get used to the idea of being a "woman" and everything that goes along with it....it's going to be a lifetime thing. Vacation or not.

I agree with everyone else...It takes at least a month for most things to start working...I even think it takes about a month for depo to start.

Option 1= get pregnant

Option 2= stop eating your body will think you are starving death and may delay onset of menses.

Option 3= Pray and carry some tampons on vacation with you.

Option 4= Completely ignore Option 1 and 2 ....Cause I was just being a little silly.

Good luck.

Sorry but ten days in advance is NOT enough time to try to miss your period with contraceptives.

Even if you DID start the pill you could get your period at any time since it takes at least a few pill packs to get regulated.

Sorry to be blunt, but you'll have to deal with it. Don't let your period control you! :)

ask your Dr first but I know that alot of women go on birth control to regulate their cycle. and I know of women who have started taking it for the same reason your asking. But I don't know if 10 days is enough time to keep it from coming.
