Okay 2 cases, i knew a woman who was 26 sleeping with a 16 year old boy(took his innocense if you know what i mean) and people laughed and joked about it. Then there was a 26 year old guy i knew messing around with a 17 year old and he actually developed feelings for her and did whatever she wanted him to do even paid for her and a boy her age to go to prom... he had the cops called on him, was thrown in jail and was the talk of the town. When a man sleeps with a minor it is a great disaster and he is crusified for it but when a woman does it, it is sugar coated and saw as her cry for acceptance and emotional comfort. Bumkish, if a woman sleeps with a minor she should be demeaned and through in jail for the... recieve the same exact punishment as a MAN would. I think it is a form of manipulation we women have on society. If you ask for equal rights in everything don't turn around when it is time for equal punishment. What do you think?

Man or woman they can both be pediofiles. Woman can be just as evil as men if not worse... look at all the mothers killing their babies. A woman in Texas just hung all of her kids and then killed herself. I know they blame post partum depression, but my god - excuses, excuses. Andrea Yates should have gotten the death penality - if it were the father that did the killings he would be put to death.

I am a woman and yes I would take it seriously both ways. A 26 year old woman or man should know better and not be sleeping with a child. However people go easier on the woman because usually getting with an older woman is every little boys' fantasy and the boy usually doesnt complain about it to anyone. But it is disgusting no matter if the adult is male or female. They should both suffer similar consequences because obviously there is something mentally wrong with both the 26 yr old man and woman.

I always thought that statutory rape was an offence for both men and women. If it's not then it bloody well should be. Not all paedophiles and sex offenders are men. I don't think issues like this should be based on gender. It's either illegal to have sex with a minor or it isn't - regardless of gender. It's like when a man whores himself out to women and sleeps around he's a stud but when women do it they are dishonoured and told they're sluts. The equality thing goes both ways I think. Unfortunately I don't think it will ever end. Whether we like it or not there are differences between men and women and I think this debate will rage on for a few more centuries before anything is settled. I think you are right to be outraged at the obvious lack of equal rights in the case you stated though.

I completely agree. There are other examples of this. The one that bothers me involves how assault cases are handled differently depending on the sex of the offender.
If a female strikes a man, that's not viewed as a serious offense, regardless of circumstances. However, if a man strikes a woman, it seems everyone wants to see the man in prison, regardless of circumstances. Obviously there shouldn't be a difference, but in this case and your example women receive preferential treatment under the law.
I think women should definitely have equal rights. Its just time to take the good AND the bad things that come with equal rights, not just picking and choosing the most beneficial rights.

The problem isn't with women on this one - all the ones I know are totally disgusted by the idea of any adult having sex with a minor. The problem on this one is usually that is a young male fantasy to have sex with an older woman (or any woman for a young teenager). Somehow men let some women get away with this. I think most women would string the woman up if we got to pick.
Also, there are plenty of women who have gotten in trouble for this - I think they are starting to take in more seriously, at least for all those female teachers that get caught sleeping with their students.

Well, I think you're right. I don't know where you live, but there are news articles almost everyday in my area concerning women being arrested for sleeping with underage males, so things are changing, just not as fast as would seem fair. It all goes back to the old double standard thing...............

i believe it comes down to the power of the pussy!
they know how to use it and we can't seem to ignore it. i suppose that the biggest arguement at the moment to support that would be "the paris hilton saga".got her sentence down to 3 weeks but still couldn't hack it & now has to do the full 45 days, which we all know is B.S. coz a normal person would've got a hell of a lot more than that!
