... and that may be true - but are you satisfied if the "best" is still crap? We've lost so much liberty in this country, HOW CAN YOU BE SATISFIED WITH 'the best" if it's CRAP? (And what are you doing about it?)

People have questioned what liberties we've lost.
First Amendment: Bush has established "free speech zones" that are at least a half mile from wherever he is.
Second: 20,000+ gun control laws on the books - unconstitutional
Fourth- the government montiors your phone, email, Can search without warrant.
Fifth:People have been locked up for years without charges, without being allowed to speak with counsel, without being able to bond out.
... the list goes on. But in general, we're going from a society where anything not forbidden is permitted to one in which anything not expressly approved is forbidden. A National ID card is due to be in effect in 2008 - and you're already required to present "your papers" when you board an airliner or even ride a bus (in some places).
The invasion of privacy, stifling of dissent, tracking of persons and imprisonment are all offensive to the Constitution, and all represent loss of rights.

It is the best country in the world except for liberals who try to tear it down.

it ought to ensue besides the shown fact that it isn't likely. the U. S. shape might limit this form of circulate. besides the shown fact that, if a President needed to be an absolute monarch, he ought to think of the the best option to set aside or redraft the form. His undertaking could be getting human beings to settle for his valid dazzling to try this. In prepare, an absolute monarch will remember on the loyalty of the two the army or the police - ideally the two. So if the President persuades the army and/or police to help the variations and to be keen to enforce them, they're going to stick. besides the shown fact that, unpopular leaders are constantly in possibility of overthrow or maybe after many many years, if a favored insurrection manages to sway the police or military, the chief will only be swept away. hence, whilst that's accessible (yet very no longer likely) that the U. S. ought to strengthen into an absolute monarchy, that's impressive that it might stay that way for terribly long.

Well I don't agree that its crap. If I did I would live some where else. I have traveled all over the world and each time I came home i felt like kissing the ground.
If you haven't been able to travel abroad you should give it a try. If you still think America is crap then you should move where you will be happy.

I guess you are going to have to be a little more detailed about the lost liberties. Otherwise, this is the best county in the world. How many people want to come here? Lots more than want to leave. I'm not saying we're perfect but we're not bad.

Most, if not all, of the people who say that America is "the best country in the world," have never been anywhere else. America is, in many ways, a wonderful place to live. That being said, we are not at the top of the list in a huge number of categories.
Shouldn't we, with all our technology and medical advances, be the most long-lived country, and the one with the lowest infant mortality? We're not. Shouldn't we be the happiest country? We're not. Shouldn't we be the safest country? We're not. In fact, in a recent report by an international organization, we ranked in the bottom half in safety.

Umm, lets see....You're not allowed to travel to Cuba, and people get in trouble for opposing the government, and in my opinion, our government is jacked, but the actual country has nothing to do with it. It's a beautiful country. We just need to stop global warming, get our butt out of the Middle East (or actually kill the ists and help the poor civilians caught in the middle of everything) and increase our economy. Other than that, this counrty ROCKS! And I'm not being sarcastic/ I mean no offense to people who have different opinions, so don't take anything personal.

What liberties have we losst??? We can crap on our flag and burn it, we can get in the media and turn on our goverment every chance we get, and we can leak confidential goverment info to the press w/o being thrown in prison or taken out to the street and shot!! How many of your family members have been dragged out and shot as they were 'suspected' of being an enemy of the state? You need a reality check!!!

Only we can make it better by getting rid of the Politicians that have been in there too long (Kennedy and others). When they are not doing their job the first time around then get rid of them

It's a shame your life is full of crap. Maybe a couple years in Venezuela or Cuba will brighten your outlook.

If that's how you feel, you've got a /lot/ of work ahead of you.
I think there's too many subjective judgements in assessing the country to really claim that one is the best. Most of us, though, will be most comfortable living in the country we grew up in and aculturated to.
