Well, at that age, Stephen King's older works are a good choice for horror. 'Salem's Lot, Misery, Night Shift, all very good books. And anything by Graham Masterton, he also writes mysteries.
For mystery, Mary Higgins Clark is a popular choice, I used to read her books, but the later ones just don't hold my attention.
And for romance, Janet Evanovich is a good author. Very funny, her characters are believable, overall, a good read with just about all of them.
Good luck!

When I was a teen...I absolutely LOVED Christopher Pike books! The are mostly science fiction, but not too corny, ya know...I highly recommend them. If you could only read one...try Midnight Club or Sadie...beautifully written. Have a great summer!

Mystery? Dollhouse Murders by Betty Ren Wright
Mystery? The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin
I read The Westing Game, but I never read Dollhouse Murders. My friend read it, though. It was very intriguing she said.
