Dnefuu sure has a good idea....kind of a contemporary 'take' on how Hitler tattooed serial numbers on Jews' arms.
And, of course, our 'crack' Department of Homeland Security has everything under control, so there's surely not a chance of a terrorist getting by the Thought Police.
So why don't we just build a 24-ft. wall along all 1,900 miles of the U.S.-Mexican border? I'll bet those damn fool Mexicans will never think to blow holes in the wall, scale it, or tunnel under it!
Well, kids, I don't know how to tell ya' this, but here's the 'real scoop':
THE TERRORISTS ARE ALREADY IN THIS COUNTRY!
And, you're never going to keep the illegal immigrants out!

Part of being a free people means assuming some risks in return for that freedom. We cannot - and should not- ever expect our government to do everything for us. And, even if you DID manage to keep illegals and terrorists out, how would that stop the 'terror' that goes on in this country every single day from burglars, rapists, serial killers, and - yes - even your OWN U.S. GOVERNMENT???

Oh, the great ol' government will take care of us. We can trust the government to act in the people's best interests. The government never lies to us, deceives us, distorts the truth, or keeps secrets from us, except, of course in the:
* Incidents surrounding Roswell, New Mexico in 1947;
* The Kennedy assassination;
* Ill effects of Agent Orange on Vietnam veterans;
* "Secret" CIA prisons and the torture and sexual abuse of 'detainees' at Abu Ghraib;
* Alleged attacks on U.S. battleships in the Gulf of Tonkin which led us into the Vietnam War;
* Exploitation of 'war' for profit by the giant U.S. military-industrial complex (which Eisenhower warned about);
* "Weapons of Mass Destruction" in Iraq which led us into an unconstitutional and illegal 'war' all for the sake of the Bush family's personal vendetta against Hussein and the government's desire to steal all of Iraq's OIL;
* Denials of a third-rate burglary at the Watergate Hotel that reporters finally uncovered, and which resulted in the resignation of a U.S. President;
* U-2 spy planes flying over the U.S.S.R. that Krushchev uncovered when he shot one down and displayed it for the world to see;
YEAH! Let's 'ensure' that foreign criminals and terrorists don't just stroll across our borders.....we've certainly got our hands ful with the criminals inside the beltway! -RKO- 06/01/07

YOU CANNOT DO IT!!!
C'EST IMPOSSIBLE!!
DAS IST UNMOGLICH!!
Seriously have you been to any of the border states?
We are being scammed. The war on terror is an opportunistic scam perpertrated by the bush/cheney military corporate junta.
We have only the illusion of security.
Most of the rest is smoke and mirrors. No real rise in terrorism outside Iraq (which we incited thus making us terrorists) or Afghanistan though there our blundering/posturing is costing dearly won ground on the most important level of warfare....the goodwill of the people. Thus bush et al have actually hurt us in our pursuit of terrorists. They know their policies are harmful but that they fit their narrow evangelical vision of a coming "holy armageddon" is not out of the question. This makes bush et al traitors and the military their dupes. Our soldiers are victims of these people and need our support and encouragement and shelter so they may desert and otherwise refuse to serve this criminal regime.
We must indict bush et al and recall congress and hold new elections with new campaign rules that are not beholding to a few corporations and subject to ethical compromise. This would be a peaceful revolution but is quickly becoming necessary.
and for those who can only resort to ad homminem(that is the term for name-calling in case you were scratching your head Rite guy) attacks as an argumentation device I would request you review basic rules of debate and ettiquette so as to save the sentient from having to sort through your blather while seeking intelligent discourse

Create friends in the world, instead of enemies is a good place to start.
You already have the biggest crime problem in the world so you can handle the few foreign ones.
There are a handful of real "terrorists in the world that you need to worry about, you more likely to die of pneumonia, its a fact!

I don't know if there is a method where the U.S. can ensure that criminals or terrorists cannot cross the borders, but the problem is that the U.S. govt. won't even try to do so.

If the Soviet Union could put an Iron Curtain on it's borders during the 1950s. The US could do it today. It's just a matter of will.

Plant one long mine field along the borders.

That way terrorists and illegals will definitely not come here.

Jungone:

You really need to wake up.

Terrorists want to kill us.
There is such a thing as an Islamic militant.

Why would Bush and Cheney make a fake war?
Really, answer me that.

I think that it is time for all people to be fitted with encryption coded devices buried under the skin like we have for animals. All information about the person required for travelling could be placed into the chip and the person would have to walk through a reading device to get clearance for entrance into other countries or planes. That recent episode where that guy with the deadly disease travelled extensively is really scary. Terrorists could do that and cause germ warfare!

They never could and it's highly unlikely they will ever be able to stop them. Road blocks and checkpoints are a lost cause. When an illegal criminal wants into the US they will get there come hell or high water.

If the government would get off it's dead *** and secure the borders and ports we would be able to solve the problem. As it exists now there is no solution.

I'm glad you asked that question.If one of my family members left the front door open to everyone in the community, I would first want to know why. and who was coming in and out . if my family started disappearing and other kinds of unsafe manipulation by the language being used in my house, I would step up to the batters plate and start to open a can of whoop @ss. what kind of hero does it take to clean house?
