I was watching a documentary about dancing in South Central LA and they were showing various dances like clown dancing and krumping. but they also showed little girls (age 6 and up) doing "the stripper dance" all in the name of expression and as a way to avoid gang life. My question to you is. isn't that also inappropriate. Aren't there other alternatives? other dances? or am i making too big of a deal about this? enlighten me please.

Totally inappropriate... 6 year olds shouldn't even know what the word "stripper" means. I wonder what context was it in in the documentary - maybe they were actually implying it was innapropriate? I certainly hope so.

Makes it sound like a call for pedophiles. This makes me want to pull some Gears Of War Marcus Fenix and hold a big ******* gun to some pedophile's head. Of course, why am I even saying that? Staying on topic here. It sounds 100% inappropriate, because a dance like that would introduce an impreshionable girl to the world of stripping, which, in turn, would most likely encourage the girl to be a stripper when she's older, and that could get her raped, if anything. And you are not making a big deal of this. This is a good question. We should try to put an end to this dance.

Yes, very. I don't think you're making a big deal out of this at all, I'd be horrified to see 6 year olds doing a "stripper dances" - actually I'd be horrified to see ANYONE under 18 doing so.

I saw something on this too...& they were acting like it was the most natural thing in the world for these girls to dance like that. I for one think it is extremely inappropriate. They grow up soon enough & they already are introduced to sexuality & are getting more "mature" earlier & earlier, that doesn't mean we should encourage this grown up behavior. I mean it's bad enough they're dancing suggestively, but they could've at least changed the name!

Yes. I don't understand why our culture allows the sexualization of young girls with such dancing. It opens them up to exploitation, but some adults think it's cute and encourage them. I love how Little Miss Sunshine satirizes this. Kids don't understand the darker implications of what they're doing.

I totally agree with you that we should be concerned about teaching kids "stripper dances". Sort of reminds me of the movie, "Little Miss Sunshine". I know that the kids don't put any malice into it but if they grow a bit older, they'll surely put two and two together. Why not give them time to enjoy their childhood instead of hurrying up to shatter their innocence?

very inappropriate. dance is an expression of the soul and i highly doubt that 6 year olds can adequately express themselves through stripping.

wow......your not making a big enough deal about this. i'm young too but i no that thats dirty and wrong. people have wrong trains of thought and they shouldn't be around young kids especially girls. they are gonna think that those "moves" are okay when they are older around guys and its not at all!
