Dinosaurs are reptiles, not mammals. Birds aren't mammals either. Dinosaurs came way before mammals.

Reptiles make up a large group, with many different branches. One branch of reptiles produced the dinosaurs. A related group of mammal-like reptiles produced the true mammals. There were true mammals that existed at the same time as the dinosaurs, but the dinosaurs were around for a long time. As best I recall, dinosaurs appear in the fossil record before the first mammals appear. Birds and dinosaurs are not closely related to mammals, although it appears almost certain that birds are descended from a branch of the dinosaurs.

The first mammals and dinosaurs appear in the same time era (Mesozoic) and period (Triassic). This is between 251-199.6 million years ago.
There is debate over whether dinosaurs are reptiles or birds (which both can be very related in terms of biology). Birds have developed after reptiles came to earth (actually, they appear AFTER mammals and dinosaurs).
So with this information, I would say that birds and reptiles could be the decendants of dinosaurs. Both lay eggs (even some mammals lay eggs).

Mammal-like dinosaurs.

No, seriously. Look it up.

And dinosaurs were not reptiles. That's pretty much a given these days. They were much more closely related to birds. Reptiles are a completely separate branch that began evolving around the same time as the dinosaurs.

This is controversial. But in my opinion and based on facts, dinosaurs came first.

Because:
1-Mammals are warm-blooded animal with hair that breathes air. Dinosaurs dont have hair.
2-Mammals are animals that feeds its young with milk secreted from mammary glands and has hair on its skin
Baby Dinosaurs dont feed on their mammary gland.
3. Mammals are warm blooded.
Dinosaurs are closely related with the reptile family, which indicates a high chance that they are infact "cold blooded"
