I saw a guy on the bus this afternoon, & the bus driver was teasing him with the bus ticket & was trying to pick an argument with him & drove poor dude very mad. & the dude got fresh with me. I felt pity for him. He's kind of cute. I don't mind giving him a shot at dating, & also I'm mentally disabled myself. The guy gave me a hug before he got off the bus. He's one of those types of people who need special attention. I surely don't mind helping him out & showing him that I'm not one of those type of people who would dog over him.

The problem today is that people are people and not human. A human being would never make fun of someone else who has a mental or physical dissability. People cannnot help how they come into this cold world. I don't have any dissabilities, that I know of, but that doesn't mean I will always be that fortunate either. I could leave my house one day and come home later paralyzed from a car wreck, who knows? People who make fun of others in that respect are just ignorate and I'd never do such a thing because it's not human, or fair to another human being. People show they're innermost ignorances when they do that, and people that act that way, in my eyes, are a turn off to society. I think your a great person for bringing this question here and laying out what happened. Maybe others who read this will think before they make fun of a dissabled person next time as well.

Unfortunately, some people in the world are just mean and insensitive. It may not be just over disabilities, but over how poor you are and what kinds of clothes you were, or maybe if you wear something religious that's different, like a nun or a Muslim woman with a headscarf.
People like this will always be around. But they have a problem, and it is that deep down, they don't feel very good about themselves. They have to make fun of other people to make themselves feel better, or to make their friends think they're funny.
But if you keep your kindness, then YOU are doing the right thing, and God will be on your side.
About dating...keep smart and don't be alone in a place where things can go too far!!! That kind of stuff makes life complicated and is supposed to be saved for the right time! Just have fun right now and don't make yourselves have worries about a physical relationship!

You have a kind heart and it is good to hear, how you have re-acted. Much of the Public are rude, to the Mentally Challenged, people. I have seen it many times, how they will stare and show dis-respect. The Mental disabled , knows how they are treated as they do have enough sense to tell when strangers are mean to them or laugh at them. This one girl I knew always made fun of little children that were Downs Syndrome or different from the other kids. Well she got married and had one son. This son was so deformed and Mentally disabled, that at the age of only six years old , he passed away. I have often wondered if the Mother ever thought about the way she would make fun of others? Sometimes, it comes back on us. I often wondered if it was a punishment to her. Keep rescuing the ones who are mis-treated.

Some people get nervous around others who are different... they sometimes fear them and in order not to look afraid they make fun of the person. Some people believe stereotypes and are biased by them so much they think that's how they are supposed to treat them. And yet there are just some damn mean people in the world who want to make others feel bad.
That was really nice of you to allow the man to give you a hug... hopefully he will carry with him that nice memory and not the meaness of the bus driver.
PS.... I'd probably call the bus company and complain about the driver's behavor. That was really uncalled for. :(

Those people are usually the ones that lack self-confidence. They make fun of disable, overweight, geeky, etc. persons because they think they are better than these people.
Sometimes fate lends a hand and later in life when their metabolism slows down and they become disabled/overweight/etc. and are teased, they begin to understand the pain they caused others earlier in life.

I really don't have a good answer. But I know what you mean. My best friends brother is mentally disabled too. it makes me more mad than anything when people make fun of the mentally disabled. I guess people just tease em to get a reaction. ..... I dont know, I just know that I hate people who do that.
P.S. I think you should give that guy a chance at dating...... : )

Some people have no sense of decency. It's not a cool thing to do to tease a mentally disabled person. At least not that way. If you think he's cute then maybe you should ask him out.

First, they don't know how the mentally disabled person is going through. Second, this person is one of the many who thinks people have no feelings and just messes with them because they think they are better.

I have no idea why anyone would do something like that! They are evil people who are too afraid to pick on anyone else except someone who is mentally disabled. Anyone who does something like that is sick and needs some help!

To be honest with you, i have no freaking idea what's in their minds. I would never dream of doing that. I respect and love everyone equally. I would never do that and what you did is something i would have done. You did a great job my friend! But it's sad that there ARE people out there who don't get any help.
