OK, first off - know you're not all doctors :)

I was on BC pills for 3 months - three full packs. I never had a period the whole time I was taking them, but I took a preg test and it was negative.

OK, so - seeing as how I have not had a period in three months, when do you all think I should expect normal ovulation (hubby and I are now TTC so of course I'm anxious).

Any insight or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I have been tracking my cycles for over 3 years now so I can tell you what to look for as far as ovulation goes. If you have an average cycle of about 28-30 days then you will most likely ovulate around Days 14-17, but that's just an average and sometimes even normal cycles vary a little. You might ovulate before Day 14 in one cycle or after Day 17 in another.

So you need find a way other than numbers to tell.

That way is by observing cervical mucus which you start to secrete after your period. Fertile, stretchy mucus comes out during ovulation. You will see it throughout the day when you go the bathroom and wipe.

Some women also notice things like mild cramps and increased libido around ovulation, but the mucus is a more reliable sign. You can also start taking your basal body temperature each day. It will stay within a certain range and then spike upwards towards the end of the your cycle. That will give you a postive sign that you DID ovulate.

I learned my fertility tracking method by using NFP. I've got the book The Art of Natural Family Planning and it's an invaluable resource.

But you can also find lots of good fertility websites by Googling.

Best of luck!

Well, from what my Dr. told me, Ovulation occurs on day 16 of your cycle(the start of your period being day 1), and your fertile time is 4-5 days before ovulation. But if you aren't having your periods, you really should see your Dr.

The process of ovulation is triggered by the release of Luteinizing Hormone (LH). The levels of this hormone increase significantly about 1-2 days before ovulation, causing the egg to be released from the ovary (this increase is known as the 'LH surge'). The egg travels down the fallopian tube towards the uterus. If fertilization does not occur within 24 to 48 hours after ovulation, the egg disintegrates and is expelled with the uterus lining at the start of your next period, usually 12-16 days later. If fertilization occurs, the egg implants itself in the lining of the uterus and begins its growth, resulting in a pregnancy

Some women get back to normal right after they get off of birth control. Some women...it takes a few months before they're completely back to normal.

So the trick is...once you start your period, go to the first site below, and plug in your info, and it will give you your ovulation day, plus the day of your next period. Or you can sign up (for free) at the 2nd site and it gives you the same information...just...prettier.
