A plot is what happens in the story. It's not like a summary because the plot is more in-depth about what's happening. On the other hand, a summary gives an overview of the characters and situation.
A setting is the general place in the book.
A theme is like an extremely unspecific summary, without character notes or anything like that. (lol)

In a nut shell....
Plot- A, then,B, then C, then D. The basic sequence of events.... He came home, he saw that his cat was hanging onto the canary, he swung a tennis racket at the canary, the cat yowled, released said canary and then the bird flew out the window.....
Setting- the place or situation in which all of this takes place. The where, when and how of the story. Is it nighttime, did his girlfriend just beg him to check on the precious canary, was it raining. Setting can be litteral but can also include the personal or social situation as in stories set in 1920's Brooklyn.
Theme- what kind of story is it and is there a basic point or lesson which the reader is supposed to learn. Is the above plot trying to depict a romantic comedy or a dark charcter-under-pressure who travels inward to rise above the situation. Why are they asking you to read this particular story?
Good luck!

Plot - a series of events that happens in your story that focuses on the main idea behind it.
Setting - Place and time of your story. In some stories, there can be many settings in terms of location (e.g.: one scene set in Dallas, then the character moves and we have the next scene set in New York City)
Theme - Topic of discussion behind the main idea of the story or novel. usually the most important thing covered when considering new books for English class.

Plot is the story--what happens in the book.
Setting is where and when (time period) the story takes place--like, London, 1920.
Theme is the main issue (or maybe two or three issues) that the story deals with, such as revenge, grief, love, getting old, whatever.

A wise man is a man whose only merit, after a lifetime of experience, is his wisdom, and that's what he is known for. A wise guy, however, is still trying to live his life and just happens to make wise decisions or say wise things, which people recognize, but this expression of wisdom is not his label.
