Sure, but while you might be thinking a "GUY"necologist seems more appropriate if you're hetero, one advantage of a woman gynecologist is: more personal experience with the female experience. Either gender Doctor has become a specialist by increasing their education and focus on that area. Ask other women if they can recommend a good Doctor but choose one you feel comfortable with.

Yes, there are many male gynecologists. If there was a law preventing it, there would be plenty of lawsuits. You shouldn't worry. The vast majority of gynecologists are very professional, and just see you as a patient. I understand your concern though, and you should always search until you find one you're comfortable with.

There are lots of male gynecologists. It's standard for them to have a female in the room also during exams though, so either way a woman would be in the room.

I'm the same way. I prefer to have a male OB/GYN over a female. I don't really know why either. I think they tend to look at things more objectively, at least the ones I've been to, and it just seems more weird to have another female looking down there. It's weird either way, but more weird when it's a female, to me.

yes, many men can be gynoologists. there are a lot of great male gynos out there. I go to one. There is usually always a nurse in the room with you. they completely understand, however, if you decide to ask for a female gynnocologist. I did my first time and ended up not liking her too much. I found that their male gyno was more gentle with me and listened better. This could have nothing to do with the sex of my doctor, it is just what I found to be true.

Good Luck

Of course a guy can be a ob/gyn. From my experience they are the best. They are ready honest with you. Women Dr's tend to sugarcoat information that they give you. A man will tell it to you straight. I have a male ob/gyn and I love it he delivered both my babies my husband I love him. He is the best. I started out with a female ob/gyn and she was the worst giving me all kinds of wrong information when I was pregnant with out first child . So you can imagine how freaked out I was listening to everything she was telling me. I was 26 when I had my daughter and she told me that my daughter was going to be retarded becasue I was having babies late when did 26 become old well needless to say when I started going to my ob/gyn he corrected all the misinformation that she gave. I now have 2 beautiful babies. So I recommend male ob/gyns.

There are Gyns of both sexes.

I have always gone to women Gyns. The women Gyns treat you better.

And.. who wants a man examining you down there? Men are men.
