My dog Champ is a rescue dog. Four years ago, I checked online to see what dogs locally I could adopt. My daughter saw this white dog with black ears and big black eye spots and fell in love. We went to the shelter, and found a sweet, friendly, skinny and sickly puppy. At the shelter they thought he was 9 months old, so we figured he wouldn't be so big. Well, according to our vet, he was closer to 3 1/2 months old! He was sick with kennel cough and intestinal parasites. Even though he had diarrhea, he didn't mess in my car for the ride home. He smelled horrible! He needed 2 baths to smell decent. Once the medicines got him healthy, we found out how hyper he is. We still have to work on calming him down in the house. He's big now, but still friendly to everyone.
Oh yes, we named him Champ because he has two black eyes. (You should see the other guy!) I have pics of him on my Y360 page.

I have 3 dogs and 6 cats, all rescued from the streets or country roads. I have one little back cat named Lucy. When she was about 6 weeks old, I spent half an hour trying to coax her out from under a dumpster behind McDonald's, using bites of the cheeseburger and fries I had bought for MY dinner. I'd put down a bite and try to grab her when she lunged for it. When I finally got her, I heard someone knocking on the glass of the McDonald's and looked up to see the entire staff giving me a standing ovation.
Then there's Pocket, a beautiful grey & white longhair. I was taking a shortcut through a bad part of town when the traffic ahead of me suddenly came to a dead stop. When I crept forward, I saw everybody looking at this 8-week-old kitten limping across the street, coming out of a trash pile. He was so dirty I couldn't tell he had any white on him. both his ears were clogged solid with --something...And he had horrible bruises on his belly . Now he's about 15 lbs., healthy and gorgeous. And the sweetest cat you ever saw. He seems to know he was rescued, too.
By the way, I found both these critters on the same day, July 5 2004. I went home and had soup for dinner and stayed in for the next 2 days, fearing I'd find more.
I stole my cat Beau out of the dogcatcher's truck while my friend distracted the driver.
And Jake's mom abandoned him in the warehouse of my brother's work, so bro called me at 8:30 am and put him on the phone. I got when he was one day old, umbilical cord still attached, and bottlefed him every 3 hours, day and night for a month. He's also big and beautiful now.

I got my dog from the pound. I saw him in April when my friend was looking for a cat, but I lived in an apartment where pets were not allowed. Two months later I moved to a place where I could have a dog, went to the pound to see if he was there (he was the one I wanted) and he was so I got him. I've had him 3 years now.
Kitty was a rescue. Her mother gave birth on a neighbors steps so I took the mother and the whole litter in. I found homes for all of them when they were 8 weeks old and kept Kitty and her mother. Her mother soon decided she'd rather be a barn cat than a house cat so she got to live at the barn.
I've adopted one of my fish. He had his tail bitten off when I saw him at the pet store so they adopted him to me for free.

She has some socialization problems that we are working on,she also had 2 kinds of ear infection when I got her. She's coming along nicely tho.

I have 5 pets ALL Inherited, four cats (2 daughters and ex-wife) and a dog, (son in the military)
The cats have "Clicks", but, (this is a case for Ripley's believe or not) they all LOVE the Doggie! Black labrador extremely intelligent and gentle, he loves to play with his feline "relatives".

We have gotten almost all our animals from shelters and absolutely love them. One of our dogs was abandoned by a breeder because he was deaf and he is the smartest dog I have ever seen. He knows six different hand signals. Shelter animals are definatly the best.
