Use isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip and cotton ball to clean the pad and inside the mouse (the ball, the little wheels inside, etc) thoroughly. If they're dirty, greasy gunk will appear on the cotton.

Yes, the mouse has rollers that dirt sticks to which affects how the mouse moves. If you get an optical mouse, you wont have problems with dirt.

Yes, because dirt and all kinds of junk get stuck in the roller (inside your mouse). So just clean the rollers inside as well as the ball to prevent any weird behaviour.
